Deal Town Council Annual Planting and maintenance

Deal Town Council are currently reviewing the contract for Annual Planting and maintenance of the Council’s planters and hanging baskets.

The Town Council has the following Planters:-

               10 Planters along the Sea Front promenade north of the Royal Hotel

             8 Planters in Deal High Street

               5 Planters in South Street

               2 Planters in Mill Hill

               1 Planter in Alfred Square

The Town Council has the following hanging baskets:-

12 ‘Twin’ pairs of hanging baskets (24 baskets) on lamppost bracket arms along the sea front between Deal Castle and the Royal Hotel.

17 ‘Pairs’ of half baskets (34 baskets) on lamppost brackets along the High Street.

The contractor will need to include with their costing the following:-

  • All hanging baskets to be collected from the Council’s winter storage in Deal and taken to the contractors chosen nursery for planting.

  • All hanging baskets to be collected from contractors chosen nursery once planted and placed on the appropriate lamppost brackets.

  • All hanging baskets to be removed from the lampposts at the end of the season and returned to the Council’s winter storage in Deal. (All old plants and soil to be removed and recycled by the contractor)

  • All planters and baskets to be planted to an agreed density of planting in agreement with the Council

  • All planters and baskets to be planted to an agreed colour scheme in agreement with the Council

  • Weekly watering and maintenance of 26 planters (including deadheading and replacing dead/damaged plants)

  • Weekly watering and maintenance of 58 hanging baskets

  • Providing 8 large hanging baskets for the Town Hall including placement and removal and disposal at the end of the season.

  • Potential contractors will also need to provide an additional quotation for winter planting of all 25 planters

  • Potential contractors will also need to provide an ‘Hourly rate’ for any agreed extra works that will be required from time to time. (This will include works on the Council’s allotment sites in Mill Road, Park Avenue and Golf Road)

Cycle Friendly Project

Deal Town Council are seeking interest from suitably qualified and experienced consultants to carry out an evaluation. This is for the two year Cycle Friendly Deal project which has just been awarded a grant of over £93k from the government's Coastal Communities Fund.
