Accessibility Routes Project

The Council's Transport & Infrastructure Committee recognises that people using mobility scooters, wheelchairs, buggies and prams are experiencing difficulties moving around the area. This is due to the deterioration of our pavements and the lack of suitable drop kerbs.

Councillors have agreed a number of key "Accessiblity Routes" across the area from Walmer to Sandown and the Promenade to Sholden.

These Accessiblity Routes have now been surveyed across Deal with each crossing scored 1-5 with five being a crossing with drop kerbs and tactile tiles. The next stage is to prioritise the crossings and work with Kent County Council's Highways Department to start making improvements.
