Greenhouse Gas Emissions

In 2019 the Town Council undertook a basic greenhouse gas (GHG) emission audit. This was enough to highlight key areas that needed tackling in order to start our journey to Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2025. Many actions have already been taken including eliminating single use plastic from operations, leasing a Hybrid Electric Vehicle for Mayoral duties and all other Council transport needs, undertaken councillor & officer carbon literacy training, as well as reviewing and improving waste management. The Environment Committee has written a new Environment Policy that has been adopted by the Full Council.

The Council will now be undertaking a more thorough GHG emission audit using the recently released Kent Association of Local Councils' Carbon Calculator. The results of this work will be published on this page soon.
