Deal is built on a shingle bank and the town rises gently
inland as it approaches the chalk base of the North Downs.
This makes cycling a perfect activity. The flatness helps young families and older riders whilst the rolling landscape inland inspires stronger adventurers.
Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 1 runs along the seafront and from Deal Pier down to Kingsdown, the route is traffic free. Using Route 1, riders can head north to Sandwich & Canterbury or south to The White Cliffs and Dover.
With a grant from the Coastal Community Fund and additional support and funding from Deal Town Council, Cycle Friendly Deal has been able to develop new routes, provide free events and training, install more cycle parking, create a new Cycling & Walking Map and launched the Deal-e-Bike Hire Scheme (book your bike here)
