Cycle Friendly Deal

Cycle Friendly Deal logoDeal is built on a shingle bank and the town rises gently inland as it approaches the chalk base of the North Downs.

This makes cycling a perfect activity. The flatness helps young families and older riders whilst the rolling landscape inland inspires stronger adventurers.

Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 1 runs along the seafront and from Deal Pier down to Kingsdown, the route is traffic free. Using Route 1, riders can head north to Sandwich & Canterbury or south to The White Cliffs and Dover.

With a grant from the Coastal Community Fund and additional support and funding from Deal Town Council, Cycle Friendly Deal has been able to develop new routes, provide free events and training, install more cycle parking and create a new Cycling & Walking Map. Once the pandemic restrictions are eased, we will start a new ebike hire scheme and launch a cycle friendly business accreditation programme.

Cycle Friendly Places to stay, refresh & visit

We're Cycle Friendly StickerWhether visiting for a day or several days or living here, it's good to know which businesses, cafes, pubs, accommodation providers and attractions are Cycle Friendly.

The Cycle Friendly Accreditation Scheme helps you to easily identify those cycle friendly organisations. These cycle friendly places will have a good local knowledge of cycling and information on cycling routes and facilities. They will happily refill water bottles as well as a number of other cycling things pertinent to their business and you, their cycling customer.

As local places achieve their Cycle Friendly Accreditation we will add their details here.

If you would like your business accredited please visit the Cycle Friendly Accreditation page.
