Put your Best Foot Forward

Welcome to Best Foot Forward, a six month campaign aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and to get more active too!

The average petrol car produces the equivalent of 290g of CO2e every mile, so if you swapped a one mile round trip by car once a week, in a month you've reduced your emissions by more than a kilo.*

By working together as a town, we can make an even bigger impact and as a thank you for a pledge, those who signed up were entered into a monthly draw for a chance to win free e-bike hire from Hut 55.

Best Foot Forward ran for six months from March 2024 to September 2024 and people of Deal collectively pledged to remove 219.82 kilos (758 miles) of CO2e emissions.

Of course, we’d like everyone to carry on making those small swaps beyond the length of the project!

On the NHS website it explains that no matter how much you do, physical activity is good for your body and mind. Adults should aim to be active every day. Some is good – more is better still.

They have produced exercise guidelines and workouts to help improve your fitness and wellbeing as well as a Get Active section with help to get you active!

To help you on your journey we have additional information about walking and cycling in Deal on our web pages below.

Local Walking: Deal is a great place to explore on foot. It's small, compact, flat with so many nooks and crannies of interest that are only revealed when walking.

Cycle Friendly Deal: With a grant from the Coastal Community Fund and additional support and funding from Deal Town Council, Cycle Friendly Deal has been able to develop new routes, provide free events and training, install more cycle parking, create a new Cycling & Walking Map and launched the Deal-e-Bike Hire Scheme.
