Kent Coast Volunteering Christmas Raffle Draw took place at Deal Town Hall

Kent Coastal Volunteering Christmas Draw

On Thursday the Mayor of Deal, Councillor Christopher Turner, was honoured to draw Kent Coast Volunteering’s Christmas Raffle at the Town Hall.

The raffle raised a fantastic £2,337 to support the work of Kent Coast Volunteering over the coming year.

The prizes included a Luxury Christmas Hamper, Afternoon Tea for Two, Pantomime Tickets, Hornby Trainset, Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway tickets, selection of craft sets and a box of cuddly toys.

After the draw, everyone enjoyed a chat over a cup of tea and mince pie in the Council Chamber. All the funds raised from the raffle will help support communities to improve their quality of life through volunteering and volunteer-led projects including:

  • a befriending service which matches over 120 vulnerable, isolated, older people with local volunteers for companionship, reducing loneliness and social isolation
  • volunteer drivers who carry out over 15,000 journeys per year, enabling older, vulnerable people to get to their medical and health appointments
  • a volunteer matching service which pairs people of all abilities with all kinds of charitable organisations locally who require volunteer help
The Mayor of Deal, Cllr Chris Turner said, “The Town Council is delighted to support the work of Kent Coast Volunteering and I was honoured to be asked to do the draw. The real heroes are all the people who bought tickets and all the organisations kind enough to donate such great prizes and make it a truly bumper Christmas Raffle.”
