Green Grants – second round of applications open

Published: 06 January 2023

The pilot scheme opened in October 2022 for the first round of submissions. The second round will close on Tuesday 31 January.

The grants are available to businesses, schools and organisations that have projects to benefit our environment, biodiversity and the well-being of all who call the town home.

Environment Committee Chairman Cllr Chris Turner said: "If you have an idea to help our climate and take steps to be greener and cleaner, I’d urge you to get in touch and apply.

“As a Town Council we have pledged to be carbon neutral by 2025 and this project allows us to help everyone take those positive steps too.”

The grant criteria means a project must make a positive difference, keeping nature and climate change at the forefront of people’s minds.

Schemes could include funding for litter picking equipment, sustainable gardens and planting, wildlife projects creating avenues for nature, bins, better environmental packaging or performance art and education sessions.
