Published: 12 January 2023

On Holocaust Memorial Day we remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27th January each year. Deal Town Council’s Commemoration Service will be at St George’s Church on Friday 27 January at 11am.

The service will be led by Revd Chris Spencer and The Worshipful Town Mayor of Deal, Cllr Chris Turner, will attend and lead the wreath laying at the Memorial Stone in the church’s garden.

This is a public commemoration and everyone is welcome to attend and lay flowers.

From 4pm, people across the nation will be asked to light candles to Light The Darkness and a lantern will shine from the Undercroft at Deal Town Hall overnight. There will also be an online UK Ceremony for Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 at 7pm on Thursday 26 January which will be streamed online here www.hmd.org.uk.
