Don't get rid of Richborough tip

Deal Town Council has voted to support the campaign to keep Richborough Waste & Recycling Centre open.
Members agreed that the proposed closure of the nearby facility by Kent County Council was a concern for all Deal residents and the local environment.
Objections were also voiced about the plan to reduce the number of days the Deal Household Waste Recycling Centre on Southwall Road is open, going from seven days a week down to five.
Issues raised included an increase in fly-tipping and more waste being lost to landfill, rather than being recycled.
Mayor of Deal, Cllr Oliver Richardson said: “The proposed closure makes no sense when we should be working to recycle as much as we can and making it as easy as we can for people to do so.
“The loss of the Richborough centre and reduced hours at the Deal site would trigger an increase in fly-tipping which harms and damages wildlife and our environment as well as being expensive for the tax-payer, who ultimately foot the bill.”
