New ‘Welcome to Deal’ signs have been placed on the two main roads in to town.
The updated signage hosts all the information on one board, replacing the old signs which had two panels each.
Chairperson of the
Transport & Infrastructure Committee Cllr Ben Bano said: “
Deal Town Fairtrade Network approached us to update our signs to reflect our status as a Fairtrade Town and we were very happy to do so.
“The new signs were created on one complete panel, rather than two smaller ones, which helped reduce the cost.
“Our two new signs proudly show our heritage with the crest, ‘Welcoming the Stranger’, the new council logo reflecting the work we do today and the Invicta Horse which places us within our home county of Kent.
“It also celebrates our twinned town Saint-Omer and how we are historically placed as a Cinque Port Town. The new signs not only welcome people to Deal, they are a real celebration of who we are.”
