Grow The Rainbow at Pride

Published: 08 July 2024

Deal Town Council will be asking people to Grow The Rainbow at Pride this weekend.

The rainbow is synonymous with Pride and the Town Hall team will be handing out 100 BeeBombs to Deal residents, encouraging people to share and grow the rainbow by planting native flowers.

At the Deal Town Council stand there will be a map for people to show where they will plant their flowers to create the floral rainbow across Deal that will encourage and support local wildlife. The BeeBombs have specially designed labels that feature a QR code to guide people to the www.deal.gov.uk/climate page.

Town Clerk Lorna Crow said: “We’re incredibly proud to support Deal Pride and are looking forward to another great event.

“Once again the Mayor and Mayoress will take part in the march from the town to Walmer Green and this year will be the first time the team have a stand at the Party on the Green.

“We will of course be on hand to talk about the work of the Town Council but we wanted to be more than just a presence, we wanted to join in and create a legacy of the day.

“By asking people to grow a floral rainbow not only are we supporting our LGBTQIA+ community, we’ll be supporting our climate and ecological emergency declarations too.”

Deal Pride March 2024 will take place on Saturday 13 July and you can register here dealpride.co.uk and the Party on the Green is from 12pm to 5pm and is free to attend.
