The Mayor with artist Yulia Antonova The work of Deal Town Council has been brought to life by a local Ukrainian artist.

The artwork has been used to create three display boards promoting the activities of the Town Hall: Weddings & Civil Partnerships, Venue hire and Deal Town Council.

The three images that were commissioned reflect this by depicting a unique bouquet, the council chamber and the Town Hall itself.

Yulia Antonova has been welcomed by a host family in Deal and is a gifted artist whose art is now often exhibited in town.

She said: “I am so happy that my work will be part of Deal and included in the beautiful Town Hall Council building! I truly hope it serves as great advertisement.”

Mayor of Deal, Cllr Oliver Richardson said: “We wanted to create a set of unique information boards and Yulia has certainly done that!

“We first met Yulia at the Ukrainian Christmas Market that was hosted at the Town Hall back in December and everyone was captivated by her drawings, particularly the one of the Town Hall.

“We have pledged to become a Town of Sanctuary and it’s through working together and building bonds with everyone in our community that will allow us all to create places of safety and sanctuary.

“It has been a great opportunity for us as a Town Council to be part of such a project which not only helps show case what we do but also that of a very talented artist.”

The new boards will be on permanent display until September and then rotated to allow promotional materials for the council’s events and campaigns to be advertised as and when required.
