Deal Warm Welcome returns for a third winter
Published: 19 November 2024
Deal Warm Welcome returns for its third year offering warmth, refreshment and friendship for everyone.
Five venues will open their doors from the beginning of December for guests to go along, have a hot drink, something to eat and the chance to chat and mix with others.
There is additional support from Deal Town Council this year with funding also given to United Families, Deal Area Foodbank and Home-Start to give immediate help to people struggling to heat their homes or fed themselves.
Mayor of Deal, Cllr Oliver Richardson said: “The return of Deal Warm Welcome is bittersweet as it shows there continues to be a need, right here in Deal, to help those who cannot afford to feed themselves or heat their homes.
“As a council we want to support all our residents and I am forever heartened by the hardworking volunteers and generous host venues who bring the project to life, creating real communities, going beyond the practical and offering hope each winter.”
Deal Pantry and Home-Start are new additions to Deal Warm Welcome helping to offer out the service to more residents.
Deal Warm Welcome opening times are St Richards Church on Mondays from 9am to 1pm, Tuesday lunch at Trinity Church from 12.30pm to 3pm and Deal Pantry from 2pm to 4pm. On Wednesday morning it’s tea and toast at St Andrew’s from 9am to 11am, Deal Pantry from 10am to 12pm and dinner is served at St George’s from 12pm until 2pm.
