Deal Town Council has received the sad news that Cllr Ben Bano, long standing councillor and former Mayor passed away earlier this week.
The Mayor of Deal Cllr Mike Eddy said: “I’ve known Ben ever since I’ve been involved in politics, so that’s the best part of 30 years. I knew him as person who always fought for the best interests of people. He was known not only for his work in the town but with refugees too. He had such empathy and worked hard for those displaced and vulnerable. We may not have agreed on every issue but I knew his prime motivation was compassion. I take comfort knowing his family were by his side when he passed.”
