Welcome to the DTC Tree Zone

Trees play a vital role in our wellbeing, sustain our environment and are key to addressing climate change.

As we look to further climate adaption and resilience, trees play a vital role in reducing flooding by slowing down the flow of rainwater, absorbing rainwater and reducing erosion. In the heat, their canopy provides shade.

They are also home to a great range of wildlife, each eco-systems of their very own. Kent Wildlife Trust has published an article called "Everything you need to know about carbon sequestration" explaining how planting trees helps fight climate change. Read the article in full here.

Future trees

As part Kent County Council's long-term plan for tree planting, they collect sites that may be suitable for planting in future years and add these to their forward plan. These may be old sites or completely new sites where trees have not been planted before. If you are aware of any sites suitable for highway trees or have proposals for larger schemes, then you can raise a request.

Please click here to request a tree online (select 'Report a problem' button and then choose 'Trees - tree planting request' from the category list)

They will then review the site and determine if it can be added to our forward programme.

  • If you have a tree planting project you are looking to establish in Deal and need financial support, please look at our grant page to see if you are eligible for funding and to apply.
  • KCC also provides guidance here on choosing a location, selecting trees, planting trees, maintenance and funding & subsidies.
