Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, Deal Town Council is observing the Period of National Mourning.

Events and meetings that were scheduled during this time will be postponed. These include the annual Braderie and Heritage Day, both planned for next weekend.

The Transport and Infrastructure Committee and the Finance and General Purposes Committee will also be rescheduled.

Mayor of Deal, Cllr Christopher Turner said: “As a mark of respect for her Majesty the Queen, we have postponed meetings and events due to take place during national mourning.

“We will be working on alternative arrangements for all that will be postponed and will keep you up to date with further news.

“Now, as a town, we join together in this time of great sadness, remembering Her Majesty the Queen who faithfully served our country.”

A Book of Condolence has been opened and is in the lobby of the Town Hall for all to visit and pay their respects. The book will be available in the lobby from 9am until 6pm every day (including Saturdays and Sundays) until further notice.
