Deal observes the National Moment of Reflection
Published: 14 September 2022
The National Moment of Reflection will be observed at Deal seafront on Sunday evening at 8pm.
It will be held in front of Deal Pier (the apron) and will be an opportunity for everyone to join together to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.
The Mayor of Deal, Cllr Chris Turner will welcome those who have gathered shortly before the minute’s silence begins at 8pm.
The Landmark Choir will signal the end of the National Moment of Reflection by singing Jerusalem with the lyrics on the pier screens for people to join in. They will conclude with the new National Anthem.
The Mayor of Deal, Cllr Turner said: “On Sunday evening we will pay our respects to Her Majesty Queen, the longest serving monarch in British history.
“It is a time of sadness and of reflection and her passing will mean something different to each and every one of us.
“So, on the eve of her funeral, I hope we will gather together as a town, and pay tribute to Her Majesty, who dedicated her life to serve us all.”
The National Moment of Reflection will be at 8pm and we would ask people to make their way down a short time beforehand. The Book of Condolence will be open until 9pm tonight at Deal Town Hall for those wishing to sign.
