Roni Brown trialing an electric van at Deal Saturday Market

Ron’s Box is trialing an electric van at Deal Saturday Market thanks to the Kent Revs scheme.

It is the latest step to help the environment at the market as traders make changes in packaging and solar power.

The Kent Revs Van Trial scheme is open to businesses across the county to reduce their environmental impact and experience new technology.

Roni Brown said: “It’s a big investment for a small business so it’s great we can see how it can work and how it helps us be part of the change for good.”

Chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee, Cllr David Cronk said: “We have a real focus on the environment here in Deal and our traders reflect that. When you come to the market and buy and love local, you’re not just tackling climate change, you’re supporting our business community too.

“We all want to do our bit for the environment and it’s a real tangible way to see how you can run a mobile business and be green at the same time.  Roni is the second trader on the market to use this initiative with Richard from Kingsdown Breads finding it a great help earlier in the year.”

Deal Town Council has a new Green grants programme. If you are a local business with a plan to go greener and need a cash boost, please go to www.deal.gov.uk/grants to learn more and apply for funding.
