Could you be a Tree Guardian? 🌳

Published: 07 March 2025

Do you have an affinity with nature and love to see our environment thrive?

Would you like to be part of a team creating a greener town?

If yes, then being a Tree Guardian could be for you!

Deal Town Council is looking to recruit a team of Tree Guardians who could volunteer to not only help take care of existing trees but help plant new ones too.

Mayor of Deal, Cllr Oliver Richardson said: “Each of us know our own patch really well and we are hoping to tap into that local expertise and support the green-fingered amongst us!

“This project will bring like-minded people together and we will give them the support to make their neighbourhoods become cleaner, greener and more healthy too.

“Looking out for nature and supporting those who cherish it forms a great deal of our work.

“It’s part of our policy, our Town Plan and it’s in our new Climate Action Strategy too, all helping to shape the future of the town with the help and support of those within it.”

Tree Guardians will be part of team working with local experts and town, district and county officers and members.

The project will begin once the required number of volunteer Tree Guardians has been recruited and a working group will be formed.
