New year - new hobby?

A whole host of organisations will be at the Town Hall on Saturday 17 January to share their passions and interests. From choral arrangements to flower arrangements, mining, models, clubs and societies - there will be something for everyone!

As part of this winter’s Deal Warm Welcome, there will be a week of events starting on Thursday 15 January at the Town Hall in January including a special ‘Hobby Day’.

On Saturday 17 January 2026 the Town Hall will play host to local groups who can share their specialism, to encourage people to join them and find a new interest in the new year.

Mayor of Deal Cllr Mike Eddy said: “Deal Warm Welcome returns for a fourth winter and we will again be offering places of warmth and friendship across the town.

“This year we wanted to give something extra and so we’re working with the social prescribing team to offer a week of events and activities that will benefit residents.

“On the Saturday of that week, the 17 January, we want to showcase all the possible pastimes people could sign up to and find that common interest or hobby they don’t yet know they’d like to take up."

The Hobby Day is free to attend and will be held at the Town Hall from 10am to 2pm. We will be joined by Kent Mining Museum, Phoenix Quilters Deal, Rotary Club of Deal, Model Boat Association, Deal and District Flower Club, Landmark Show Choir, Chatty Craft and Deal Goodwins WI
